Before you ask.

The questions we hear most, answered plainly — including the one about price.

Getting Started

Every Echelon project is custom, but most of our pergola projects range from $12,000–$30,000, while pavilions typically range from $20,000–$40,000. Size, materials, site conditions, roof design, and finish level all influence the final investment.

We start with a complimentary on-site consultation to understand your space, your vision, and what you want to accomplish. When you're ready to see your project come to life, we move into our design phase, which can include custom 3D renderings, detailed drawings, and, when needed, engineering and permit documents. A design retainer is collected for this phase and credited toward your project when you choose Echelon to build.

Send us a few photos of the space and rough dimensions and we will tell you what works there and roughly what it costs, usually within 48 hours. If it looks like a fit, we come walk it in person.

We're happy to work from plans provided by your architect, designer, or engineer—or we can develop the design for you from the ground up. When engineered drawings or permit documents are needed, they can be provided and coordinated upon request. Bring us your plans or bring us your idea. We'll help bring it to life.

Design & Permitting

Always. You receive 3D renderings placed in your actual yard — not a catalog photo — and we revise until it is right. Nothing gets cut until you have signed off on what you are looking at.

When your project requires structural engineering or permits, Echelon can coordinate with the appropriate engineers and local building departments to help move the process forward. Requirements vary by project and jurisdiction, so we'll help identify what's needed and coordinate the necessary steps as part of your project.

We prepare the elevation drawings, material lists and renderings most HOA architectural committees ask for, and we have been through the process in most of the communities we build in.

Materials & Construction

We primarily build with Douglas fir, selected for its strength, character, and timeless appearance. Western red cedar and other timber species may also be available depending on the design and desired finish. We'll help you select the right timber, stain, and finish to complement your home and achieve the look you want.

Steel, powder-coated in a dark bronze or matte black finish specified for exterior exposure. Fasteners are hot-dip galvanized or stainless depending on the connection.

Only if you want it to. We finish every structure with a penetrating UV-inhibiting sealer and can set you up with a simple maintenance schedule, or you can let it silver naturally — some of our best-looking projects have.

We design, engineer and mill year-round, and we raise frames in the winter regularly. Concrete and masonry work is what actually drives the schedule in cold months, and we will tell you honestly if waiting for spring gets you a better result.

Timeline & Warranty

Most Echelon projects are completed in just 3–4 weeks from start to finish. Our streamlined design and construction process allows us to move quickly without sacrificing quality or craftsmanship. Timelines may vary for larger or more complex projects, or when engineering and permitting are required. From the first steps of design to the final details, we keep the process moving and keep you informed along the way.

Our process is designed to minimize the mess, noise, and disruption at your home. Much of the preparation happens before our crew arrives, allowing construction to move quickly and efficiently. While every project is different and schedules can vary based on size, complexity, site conditions, and weather, many projects require only about a week of on-site construction.

Echelon provides a 10-year warranty on structural components, along with applicable manufacturer warranties on finishes, materials, and hardware. Warranty details are clearly outlined in writing before your project begins, so you know exactly what’s covered.

We build throughout Utah and the surrounding Mountain West. For projects outside that radius, reach out anyway — we ship pre-cut frames and can coordinate the raising with a local crew.
